Citroën My Ami Buggy Concept: l'Ami baroudeuse

A real success with more than 13,000 deliveries since June 2020, the Citroën Ami still inspires designers. The team focused on the electric quadricycle to create an original concept of an adventurer vehicle, while keeping the spirit of the Friend that we know.

Adventurer quadricycle

Samuel Pericles, designer of the My Ami Buggy concept, explains that the project is inspired by construction games, sportswear fashion and nature. Thus, the study is in a two-tone khaki and black shade, with textural effects, while fluorescent yellow spots are scattered on the body panels and on board. At the four corners, notched “mud” tires equip small golden rims. A spare wheel of the same type is placed on a roof rack.

To reinforce the adventurer side, bull bars and headlight grilles are installed, as well as side protection bars. An LED bar takes place on the roof, here extended by a new cap on the top of the windshield to protect against the sun or the rain. The fender flares are also reworked. The doors have been removed, and are replaced by base units that pivot with a push button. To protect against bad weather and mud, transparent fabrics can be installed or removed using zippers, a nod to the Méhari.

Tips from the series?

The My Ami Buggy concept has many tricks thanks to moving elements printed in 3D in one piece: adjustable mirrors, support equipped with a universal screw to place a telephone, a camera or a GoPro... Thanks to a system uniformly fastened, they can be placed almost anywhere in the car to suit each use, such as in the door pillars for example. The usual drop-down charging cable, which is rather impractical, is replaced by a pistol-style handle, which is much easier to plug into a socket and store the cable. The Citroën team has also designed a line of specific luggage, including a fanny pack with a magnetic back that is placed in the heart of the steering wheel or large bags in the doors serving as storage compartments.

All of these tips could be used to craft new accessories or additional customization items to the Classic Friend catalog. This is particularly the case for upholstery, which could be adapted to quadricycles sold to individuals. On the concept, it adopts a thicker memory foam (it goes from 35 to 70 mm) as requested by some customers of Citroën for more comfort.
