Sarthe: these college students create their mini-company called Aromabox

Young people from the Marcel Pagnol middle school in Noyen-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe) play apprentice entrepreneurs. 21 3rd graders have created Aromabox, their mini-company.

Every year, accompanied by their teachers, they work together to create and sell a product in a dedicated workshop.

The objective is also educational. The goal is to learn how to manage and operate a business.

Anaïs Hanaé, general manager of the company and Amandine Drézet, communication and marketing manager are very involved in the company. "We are no longer students, we are entrepreneurs", underlines Anaïs.

Two products developed

Due to the pandemic, the new 2021 team continued to create the product of their predecessors, the Gardenbox (mini-indoor garden and herbs).

They created their own object, the Distribox (drying and storage kit for their own spices). They are accessible to all and sold at the respective price of 30 and 20 €, both 45 €.

The company does not retain any profits, including donations. They are redistributed for 10% to the ARC association for cancer research and for 10% to the Telethon, the rest being used to buy the raw materials and tools necessary for manufacturing.

The children are supervised by two teachers, Mikaël Letendre, technology teacher, and Véronique Richard, PE teacher. They are also sponsored by Rémy Dugas, a retired entrepreneur.

From creation to sale

This business management is an educational path for each of the children that the teachers develop in rotating positions so that they understand various functions, they must be versatile .

They understand both the business world in the broad sense such as product creation, marketing, finance, communication, human resources management.

And the hard work paid off. Last May, the college received the 1st prize at the mini-business festival.

Students also recruiters

In order to be replaced, they are currently recruiting the next managers of Aromabox in the 4th grade classes through cover letters and individual interviews.

A training course to gain in maturity, for orality, but also the analysis of the other. The future newcomers have two minutes to convince.
