beliefs respond to a need faced with the anxiety of the inexplicable and the uncontrollable natural phenomena that impose themselves on man. beliefs are consensual codes to try to explain the world and they act first like sedatives. polytheisms, pantheisms, monotheisms are variants throughout the history of humanity. human beings being selfishly limited and often without great humility in their perception of the world are no longer satisfied with believing in their own beliefs, they also want to impose them on others in pathological monomanias animated by the anguish of the other and of its difference. it is thus that religions are linked to temporal powers. the present and history are filled with these tragedies of coercion or religious clashes. language, institutions, sciences, arts, money, clothing are also consensual codes that therefore have a social role. all codes evolve over time, including religions, but their common point is that they are only social codes located in space and time. throughout human history, religious and institutional codes form the core of human tragedy.
