The new eco: a Picardy launches sportswear made with plastic bottles

A resident of Brie, near Péronne, Marie Jagrik, has just launched her sports clothing brand designed for runners.Her name is Wakae, which means "stay" in Swahili (an African dialect) in tribute to recycling because her models are entirely made from plastic bottles harvested at sea by fishermen and associations.

A click after a world tour in 2013 and years of work in the food industry: "I left for six months go around the world.I was shocked to see plastic everywhere, whether on the beaches, in the forest or even diving at the bottom of the oceans.Since that moment, I have always kept in mind the idea of giving a second life to this plastic but without knowing how too, "explains Marie Jagrik, the founder of Wakae.

The clothes are woven and knitted in workshops specialized in Spain and Portugal to become an elastic, resistant and comfortable fabric.Wakae sets the goal of giving a second life to more than 100,000 plastic bottles in the next three years.
