The trap set by the King of Morocco for Algeria did not work

Mohammed VI. D.R.

By Karim B. – All the clues suggest a negative reaction from Algeria following the appeal of the foot of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI. The latter seems to have missed his mark by trying to trap his eastern neighbor to whom he extended a fake friendly hand. The booby trap didn't work and the Makhzen will soon show up by returning to their "good" old ways.

The invitation from Rabat, which has not been echoed on this side of the border, will in fact be followed by a new series of provocations as the fateful rendezvous in Geneva approaches, where Morocco will have to sit down despite himself at the negotiating table with the Polisario Front. Algeria will be present there but as a neighboring country, in the same way as Mauritania, without this forcing it to negotiate in place of the principal concerned, to the great displeasure of the Palace, which is unable to impose this logic in the Sahrawi file.

Echoes that reach us here and there clearly show that Algeria has understood the game of Mohammed VI and that his maneuver has failed. To the hand extended by the King of Morocco, Algiers responds that the countless number of such appeasement initiatives initiated by Algeria to transcend differences and bring the two countries closer together have all been sabotaged by the Makhzen. It is therefore not a speech delivered, moreover the day celebrating the occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco, which could lead Algeria to turn its back.

The trap set by the King of Morocco to Algeria did not work

The Moroccan media seized on the appeal of Mohammed VI to which they ensured a very wide echo in the hypothetical hope of getting his message to as many people as possible. The headlines of the Moroccan press agree with the remarks made by an official Moroccan source who told the French news agency AFP that Morocco aspired to open a "serene" and "frank" dialogue with neighboring Algeria in order to deal with the sensitive files. Both the Moroccan authorities and the media subservient to the Makhzen are multiplying statements and allusive comments to fool international public opinion by pretending to a blockage that would come from the Algerian side.

Mohammed VI's body feint was in vain. Algeria expects official Morocco to mature and act responsibly in the face of the serious dangers threatening the region.
