Victoria Beckham has 24 million Instagram followers, an international fashion brand, four children, a footballing legend husband and a celebrity so impressive she booked our table for lunch at Nobu under a pseudonym. But I am the first to arrive at the famous sushi restaurant located in Mayfair on Old Park Lane. So I set my sights on the flamboyant banquette.

When she arrives four minutes later, Victoria Beckham looks more or less faithful to what we know from the paparazzi photos that have immortalized her entire adult life, from her status as an international pop star to her role as David's wife and partner in a multi-million pound Beckham empire, to her role as chief fashion model for her eponymous label. Today, dressed in a manly coat, long-sleeved black blouse, and pants of her own design, she seems to fit the myth, though she looks smaller and more vulnerable in the flesh.

Maybe it's because she's given up on the oversized sunglasses she usually wears in public. Nor does she sport the pout that has become her trademark. This pout was first displayed in the 1990s to embody the role of Posh, the arrogant singer perched on stiletto heels of the Spice Girls - the girl band that to this day [...]
