A photo of Warhol and Basquiat inspires the new collaboration Saint Laurent

Introduced by Glenn O’Brien to Andy Warhol in 1982, Jean-Michel Basquiat very quickly became friends with the Pop Art Master.In 1985, photographer Michael Halsband signed one of the photos of the two artists who will become as cult as it is.Warhol dressed in its eternal black turtleneck (the brand of geniuses, it is said) and basquiat shirtless, both bearing a bermuda and boxing gloves from the Everlast brand.It will not take more to inspire Anthony Vaccarello, whose aesthetics are strongly inspired by the 80s.

Rather than simply reproducing this cult photograph on a series of pieces, the Belgian creator at the head of Saint Laurent since 2015 went so far as to make the clothes which were dressed in the two artists by the American brand created in 1910 was republished in 1910.Short, protection helmets, gloves, typing bags and bandages embellished with a discreet Saint Laurent logo: we find the rock elegance of the Parisian label combined with the functionality of the Everlast products and a vintage spirit, carried by these two icons of the'Sadly disappeared art.
