Dinosaurs, a responsible brand and sustainable materials: discover the Saurus basics

Who are you and what is your role in the project?

I am Alexandre Costa, the founder of Saurus.I am passionate about nature and hikes.I have always been very sensitive to the impact of man on the environment. After my studies and a few years working for the bank, I wanted to get into entrepreneurship.

Can you introduce us to Saurus?

Saurus, it's much more than organic and recycled cotton clothes. These are clothes in which we feel good.Clothes that make you want to surpass yourself and undertake. This is all the idea behind the emblem of our brand, the T-Rex.We wanted an emblem at the Jurassic Park, which invites you to adventure, in a retro 90s style. But above all, we wanted to raise awareness of the disappearance of these giants, masters of their time, who did not survive the climate change of their time.Fortunately, unlike them, we have the means to change things.

Our t-shirts and sweatshirts are 50 % in organic cotton certified GOTS, and 50 % in recycled cotton, thick and robust, made in Portugal.Men models have a straight cut, and women's models a resolutely feminine cut, more curved for the t-shirt, and a high-waisted sweatshirt. These models are available in presale on the page of our crowdfunding Ulule.Delivery begins just in time for Christmas!

Why did you decide to embark on this adventure?

Des dinosaures, une marque responsable et des matériaux durables : découvrez les basiques Saurus

The health crisis and the confinements motivated me to embark on the entrepreneurial adventure.I wanted to create a happy eco -responsible brand.Happy because I was tired of hearing speeches of moralizing brands, which turn consumers. So I created Saurus by combining my passion for dinosaurs, who did not survive the change of their environment, for the offbeat aspect, and my interest in the environment by creating in Portugal clothes with low environmental impact.

What message do you want to convey through your action?

To cope with global warming, I think you shouldn't turn people. On the contrary, I think you have to guide and encourage them by offering them a brand that is both eco -responsible and cool. This is why I wanted to create a universe that invites imagination and to have self -confidence, while offering products with a minimum impact for the planet, which should be the basis of all industry. It is also for this reason that I like to talk about Saurus as a happy eco -responsible brand.Above all, I wanted to make people smile, to give them self -confidence.With these clothes I want us to feel invincible, motivated, ready to take matters into hand.Somewhere, it is a bit reproducing the feeling of well-being and motivation that you feel when you dress well.

Here is my plea for happy fashion, the one that provides happiness.I think the more people are happy and proud of themselves, the better they consume. We are more inclined to protect our environment if we are very internally.

One last word for the road?

I would just like to highlight a paradox.Today, we use a lot of fossil fuels. They are said to be fossil because they come from the fossilization of the forests, and to a lesser extent, from the dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago. However, this world has disappeared because it has not survived the climate change of its time.Millions of years later, we change our climate using the "remains" of a world that has disappeared, precisely because of this same climate change.

For our part, we prefer to have embroidered dinosaurs on our clothes and remedy planetary warming, rather than finishing millions of years later, embroidered on t-shirts ...
