"For me, there was always God, Santa Claus and then John Lennon," declared Canadian designer Kelly Pettit to potential buyers during a parade organized in Las Vegas by the clothing brand of which she is vice-President, Caulfeild Apparel Group.

Inspired in particular by the solo career of the late musician, Pettit created a collection of men's clothing which she defines as "vintage with a little modern side".His creations were presented to Toronto Fashion Week a few weeks ago and go from shirts to which the words of songs were printed like "Imagine" and "Beautiful Boy" to leather jackets, passing by Blazers,Pants and polo shirts. Its target: young fans of vintage but also nostalgic sixties, and more generally the fans of the Beatles.

She was deeply influenced by Lennon's minimalist style and wanted her creations to all correspond to what he would have worn if he was still alive. She also worked in close collaboration with the artist's widow, Yoko Ono, to make sure.

The latter insisted for having her say on everything that would come out of the workshops of Katty Pettit."She rejected some of our drawings because of the colors we had chosen," candied Petit to The Canadian Press."She also refused a model on which a sheet appeared which, according to her, looked like marijuana.»»

"I am very impressed by the way our teams have managed to bring out the art and music of John Lennon in such a line of clothing," said Michael Purkis, president of Caulfield Apparel Group.“Rock and fashion will always be linked and the John Lennon Signature Collection is the perfect example.»»
