Last week, Pierre-André Senizergues was at the Trocadero in Paris. Like a homecoming: the former skateboarding champion from L'Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne) did his first rides there. He was present at the Red Bull Paris Conquest, an exceptional competition that brought together the best skaters in the world. He also runs the shoe and clothing brand Etnies, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. PORTRAIT. Pierre-André Senizergues, fondateur d'Etnies : une vie pour le skate PORTRAIT. Even today, Pierre-André Senizergues remembers "his first gliding flights", when his mother bought him a skateboard for his 14th birthday. “It was orange, had plastic wheels… It was in 1977. Right from the start, I fell, it chilled me,” he confides. At the time, skateboarding slowly arrived in France and made its first followers.

The skateboarder from L'Haÿ-les-Roses is counting on the Olympics to create emulation around skateboarding: “Skateboarding is today 20 million people in the world. It's not just every 4 years at the Olympics, it's every day, and thoroughly. It's an inclusive sport, and the Olympics can be a way to show all those people who have participated in skate culture and motivate young people who want to get started.
